About BMAT

BMAT stands for the Biomedical Admissions Test. It is an aptitude test that is part of the requirements in preparation for applying to any medicine, dentistry, biomedical science, and veterinary medicine courses in universities in Singapore, United Kingdom, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Croatia, Netherlands, and Croatia.

The BMAT is a 2-hour long written examination that is divided into three parts:

  • Thinking Skills
  • Scientific Knowledge and Applications (covering Physics, Chemistry, and Math)
  • Writing Skills

The test is a combination of multiple choice questions and a written essay. The BMAT measures applicants’ natural problem-solving skills and mastery in scientific knowledge applications that are necessary for a career in the medical field.

Difference Between BMAT and UCAT

BMAT and the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) are different tests and cannot be a substitute for one another. Although both tests are 2-hours long, they cover different sections and topics. Learn more about the differences between BMAT and UCAT below:

BMAT Course Overview

This course begins with an overview of the format and components of the BMAT. After completing the introductory lesson, you will have a better understanding of the skills and knowledge points that you’ll need to master for the test.

A diagnostic test is also provided to help you gauge your current performance and identify any specific areas of concern. We recommend that you take the diagnostic test before moving on to the subsequent courses.

This course will equip you with the necessary skills and techniques to help you score well in Section 1 (Thinking Skills) of the BMAT. You will gain familiarity with each individual type of questions in both the Critical Thinking and Problem Solving components and learn how to effectively approach them.

Each chapter contains multiple sets of practice questions, allowing you to immediately reinforce and apply what you have learned.

This course will guide you through the key Physics concepts and knowledge points that are tested in BMAT Section 2 (Scientific Knowledge and Applications). The topics covered include Matter, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Waves, Thermal Physics, and Radioactivity. 

Practice questions will be provided to help enhance your understanding of the concepts and demonstrate their applications in BMAT-style test questions.

This course will provide a review of the Chemistry topics that are tested in Section 2 of the BMAT, from atomic structure and basic chemical reactions to kinetics, energetics, and organic chemistry.

Reinforce your knowledge with the help of the video lessons and then demonstrate your mastery by attempting the practice questions that follow.

This course offers a comprehensive review of the mathematical skills and concepts required for Section 2 of the BMAT, from problem solving and algebra to geometry, trigonometry, and data interpretation.

After completing each lesson, you will be able to test your understanding through a set of practice questions.

With a specific focus on the requirements and marking criteria of the task, this course will equip you with the skills needed to achieve a high score in Section 3 (Writing Task) of the BMAT. Through detailed instructions and examples, the lessons will walk you through each individual step in the writing process: how to understand and analyse the writing prompt, how to brainstorm arguments, and how to structure and write your response essay.

Each of the three mock tests contains two sections (Thinking Skills and Scientific Knowledge and Applications) to help you familiarise yourself with the format of the BMAT.

Frequently Asked Questions About BMAT Preparation Courses

Yes. Physics is part of the topics covered in the Section 2 (Scientific Knowledge and Applications) part of the BMAT.
Compared to UCAT, BMAT test an applicant’s knowledge and skills that they are expected to already possess. However, if you really want to do well in the BMAT, you need at least four to six weeks prior to the exam to prepare.
